Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Keipe Creative Studio LLC ("The Drop," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use The Drop mobile app and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1. Who we are

The Drop is a golf party game. You play a real round of golf while the app deals in-game "Drops" and tracks your scores, with solo and multiplayer (join-code) modes.

2. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a password (stored only as a salted hash — we never see your plain password), and a handle (a randomly generated display name — we do not collect or display your real name). You may also play as a guest, which creates a temporary anonymous session with no email required.

Profile information (optional). Handicap index and a selected home course, if you choose to add them.

Gameplay data. Rounds you create or join, hole-by-hole scores, in-game Drops dealt and their outcomes, course events, teams, run history, badges, and aggregate stats.

Device & notification data. If you enable push notifications, we collect a push notification token and your device platform (iOS/Android) so we can send round-related alerts. We may collect basic technical data (app version, OS version) for reliability.

Content you submit. If you submit a Drop suggestion, we collect the text you provide. Drop suggestions are reviewed by us and are not displayed to other users.

Course search (PRO). If you search for real courses, your search query is sent to our third-party course data provider to return results.

We do not intentionally collect precise GPS location, contacts, photos, or biometric data. We do not use advertising trackers.

3. How we use information

  • Provide and operate the Service (accounts, rounds, scoring, multiplayer, run cards).
  • Send push notifications you've opted into (round started, a Drop aimed at you, a player joined your lobby, round finished).
  • Maintain history and stats, and improve and secure the Service.
  • Review submitted Drop suggestions and respond to support requests.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers who operate the Service on our behalf: cloud hosting and database (Amazon Web Services), push delivery (Expo / Apple Push Notification service, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging), and our course-data provider (for PRO course search). Future paid features may use a subscription provider (e.g., Apple, Google, RevenueCat).
  • Other players in a round you join — your handle, scores, and in-game actions are visible to others in that round (never your email or real identity).
  • Legal/safety — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the Service.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. Push notifications

You can enable or disable notifications at any time in the app's Profile screen or in your device's system settings. Disabling them does not affect your ability to play.

6. Data retention

We retain your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and associated rounds, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law or resolve disputes. Guest sessions are retained only as long as needed for that session.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete account). This permanently deletes your account and associated data.
  • Edit your profile (handle, handicap, home course) in the app.
  • Manage notifications in the app or system settings.
  • Depending on where you live (e.g., California/CCPA, EEA/UK GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these, contact us at support@thedropgolf.com. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app may contain mild references to alcohol; see the App Store age rating. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information (including encrypted transport and hashed passwords). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International users

We operate the Service from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information is processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your country.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
